First-Ever IKEA Store Visit

IKEA is for anyone who dreams of a better life at home, no matter if that dream is about creating more time and space, doing more with less, or just enjoying something beautiful.

It was 2018 and I was in Singapore when I first entered an IKEA store… and to be honest, it was love at first sight.

IKEA furniture and home accessories are practical, well designed and affordable. The furniture giant is known for its modern styles and eco-friendly simplicity. Not only that, people also enjoy the meatballs, hot dogs and other delicacies that you can purchase from the store. They closely develop and evaluates products [that they include in their range] through five dimensions - function, form, quality, sustainability and low price.

While we’re all still waiting for the one in the Philippines to open (rumored to be the largest IKEA store in the world), let me share here my first time at an IKEA store when I went to Singapore last year with my boys!

IKEA ALEXANDRA

The first thing we did after we landed in SG was head straight to an IKEA store. Admittedly, I am an IKEA addict - if I had the means to do so, I would deck my whole house with everything IKEA, making it an IKEA home.

I’ve never been to one prior to our visit in Singapore, so imagine the adrenaline, the excitement I had. Intense talaga, grabe. Stepping inside IKEA for the first time can be likened to me entering the candy store as a kid - there was just so much to check out, so many things to hoard, and pieces to appreciate.

📍317 Alexandra Rd, Singapore 159965
🕙Sunday – Thursday: 10am – 10pm; Friday and Saturday: 10am – 11pm
Day prior to Public Holiday: 10am – 11pm

We probably took 2 hours just going around. We didn’t get to visit Småland, which was their play area for kids from 3 - 8 years old! But we ate at the food area, where we first tried out the popular Swedish meatballs! Monumental moment… until we realized it reminded us so much of the burger steak meal in Jollibee - pero syempre, iba parin yung IKEA meatballs!

I appreciated how you can really try the stuff there - sit on the couches, make yourself feel at home, let the experience of an item convince you that you need it in your life.

My Favorite Purchase 👈🏼

I technically have no use for this - but when I was a kid, it was my dream job to clean windows. Like the ones you see cleaning your windshields in the gas stations, or those who cleaned windows in the malls (or restaurants).

Not my best look (I really don’t care how I look whenever we travel) but that smile on my face is real. I wanted to explode from all the nice, fluffy things I was feeling inside. If I could, I would have spent a whole day being there.

I’m not sure if it was the aesthetic, the simplicity of how everything’s designed, or if it’s how things are so affordable yet meet my expectations when it comes to quality. IKEA provides durable furniture & easy do-it-yourself projects. Plus, it’ll always give you a reason to need something to build a better life at home.
